1808 American Bistro serves classic American fare with the occasional Southern, Cajun, and international twists. Steaks grilled to order. Shrimp and Grits with a bit of a bite. A delectable array of house made sauces, vinaigrettes, remoulades, tapenades, aioli, and demi-glaces. Not to mention the pastas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts, all of the mouthwatering variety.

Our full bar offers 24 cold craft beers on draft, and a delightfully tippling assortment of wines and spirits. Stop by for dinner for a beer, or any combination thereof that tickles your fancy.

Reservations recommended for the Dining Room. However, we cannot accommodate reservations for the Patio and Bar.

We've been here many times over the years, but it’s not the same anymore. The hostess seated us by the kitchen, even though there were other open tables. Our server was attentive at first, but once her friends arrived, service slowed. We were left with empty drinks for 20 minutes, and when our food arrived, our dirty plates hadn’t been cleared. The food was good, but some dishes were cold or just lukewarm. This place used to be a Delaware gem, but not anymore.

Comfort food taken to a higher level. Nice wine list. The night we were there it was a 9 out of 10 loud which made hearing the server and even each difficult at times. On the flip side, nice to see a restaurant busy.

We were greeted by a nice and polite host, then we were seated in a timely manner. This is where the good stopped. The restaurant was so noisy it was difficult to communicate with the server. Our drink order got messed up. When our food was brought to the table by someone other than our server, at which point we noticed that 2 of the 3 orders were incorrect, the decision was made that we would go ahead and try to enjoy the meals with the exception of needing some salt and pepper. When we asked the second server for some we were rudely responded to that we would have to ask our original server. The original server did not return for at least 10-15minutes, we had went ahead and ate. The food was very bland, we were never offered a second round of drinks. We will not be returning!

charging $1 for an ice cube in a cocktail and .50 for a taste of wine is a turn off. the filet had grissle.

The food amd seevice was slow, and the food came out cold. Our waitress was not very personable.

We celebrated our Anniversary and had a wonderful experience. Our servers were great, and our dessert was covered by the restaurant. We enjoy going to 1808.

Really like this restaurant. Food is always outstanding. Service was a little slow, but it was 1st Friday in Delaware that evening. Restaurant seem to be struggling to keep up with it being packed. That won't keep us from going back.

It was our first trip to 1808 but it won't be our last! Tony was our waiter and he did a great job of explaining the menu options. My husband and I ordered appetizers, dinner and each had a cocktail. Everything was over the top, good! The chef there was trained in Chicago and he is very creative. We loved our dinner and can't wait to go back.
