Alexander's is an oasis for award winning cuisine, wine, and craft cocktails. Over the years we've twice been awarded the Open Table Top 100 in the US restaurant designation and in 2018, Southern Living Magazine named us one of the Ten Most Romantic Restaurants in the South. Focusing on superb ingredients; fish, seafood, prime quality Virginia aged meats, and locally sourced organic produce, our cuisine showcases years of collaboration among some of the most talented chefs of our region. Built in the 1880s as Roanoke's first office supply company, our vintage building has been transformed into a retro chic rendition of the classic urban restaurants of our great culinary cities. Normally, my wife and I rave about Alexander’s. However, this time I was unimpressed. Unbeknownst to me Valentines Day was a fixed menu, although with a good selection. My wife had a mediocre Halibut. I had a tiny filet mignon that was cooked right, but it was easy to tell it was less than top quality beef. My warm martini was a little more than half full. I would have sent it back if not for our two dinner companions. The chocolate cake was excellent; my cheesecake was not. The white wine by the glass was poor; the Malbec was the best I’ve ever had. Our two companions weren’t impressed, except for the chocolate cake. I’ll be dining again at Alexander’s, albeit, never with a fixed menu.

Always a wonderful experience. Food is excellent. Service is superb. Love that you can actually have a conversation and not compete with poor acoustics. Best in Roanoke. By far.

Our go to fine dining restaurant. Never disappoints. Service always excellent. Food is exceptional. Ambiance a plus. Birthdays, anniversaries, other special occasions celebrated here. Highly recommend!

Outstanding experience here with a large party for a business meeting. Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Have not been here for years and forgot how wonderful they are, will definitely come back sooner this time.

Alexanders is the best restaurant in the Roanoke area in terms of food, service, ambience and staff year after year. I highly recommend these folks. They will treat you like their own family.
