Since 1937, once nestled in the middle of cornfields stands the Smokehouse Market. An unpretentious structure, reminiscent of its days as the market for the surrounding Chesterfield area. The store now houses one of St. Louis's most celebrated restaurants, Annie Gunn's. Within its walls, Chef Lou Rook, III works his magic, creating irresistible cuisine with a sophisticated country life accent. In keeping with the concept of "Foods and wines inspired by the richness of country life", Chef Rook uses the best ingredients and the traditions that are most appropriate to them and imbues them with his own talented creative spin within the rhythm of the seasons. The food was absolutely delicious. We wanted to share two different meals and the chef divided each and then did a marvelous job of presenting two beautiful plates. Not only was the food wonderful, but the service was also top notch. We will certainly make Anne Gunn's a regular stop.

The cheese board was excellent. It could use another selection of crackers or crunchy bread. The seafood special was excellent.

This restaurant excels at service. The food was very good. Extensive wine list. And prompt and attentive service, and timing of food and drinks was excellent. The food was very good. We celebrated a birthday and they gave a special Champagne starter and a complimentary dessert. Very nice to make this feel extra special.

Annie Gunns is always an exceptional dining experience. The ambiance, setting, incredible food and wine menu, the chef’s presentation, and delicious food are noteworthy and make for a perfect date night.
