                                                                                                Had an amazing time for our first experience at The Back Burner. Diana was quick to ask if it was our first time & once we said it was she talked us around the menu. Telling us that they sell crazy amounts of the “better cheddar”, you get a great amount of flatbread which has a homemade pita chip vibe. We had the crab bisque which was so good my fiancé almost forgot to share any with me! We split the wedge salad, which was so refreshing. He got the short rib and I got the salmon Wellington. We had to get all that bagged up so we could try out some dessert. We got the raspberry crème brûlée, it was so tasty.

                                                                                                Patrick, Patti and Diana were all excellent as usual and made our Valentine’s Day special. Appreciated the Valentines menu having a much wider selection this year! We enjoyed our filet and crab cakes greatly.

                                                                                                they sat us at a table that was not assigned to a waiter, after about 20 min. I asked to see who was our waiter so we could order our drinks and then they realized we had no waiter. A bad start to our Valentine's day date.

                                                                                                Back Burner is the Hockessin gem, especially if you are not a big meat eater. Their shrimp, scallop, oyster, lobster, crab cakes are always fresh. The Shrimp and scallop was done just right, without any fishy taste; most impressively there was no sand in the scallop (even the so-called upscale restaurants got sand in their scallops once in a while). The mushroom soup (our all-time favourite) is a bit too sweet for my taste tonight, but it's still great. Besides good food, the main reason to eat at Back Burner is their excellent service. Upon entering the door, Angela always greets you with a sweet beautiful smile. Larry, the manager, is friendly, helpful and welcoming, (when he's there, you know BB is in good hands). Faith is forever accommodating and efficient. Just let her know what you need and she will provide. Yes, our familiar server, Diana, is attentive and patient. Thank you.

                                                                                                Ordered quiche. It was not very warm but the crust was slightly burnt. Salad greens were a bit dry. The last time I was there this dish came out fine. Flowers on center of table blocked my view of person across the table and made it hard to hear her.

                                                                                                Enjoyed a relaxing lunch today with my brother and sister in law at the Back Burner. Soups, salads, and crab cakes were delicious and just the right portions. Our server, Randall, was attentive and showed patience and a great sense of humor. The Back Burner restaurant does not disappoint! After lunch, we visited the adjoining Back Burner to Go for better cheddar and prepared salad!
