Service was very slow. Cook did not do all the extras. First time for my young son’s birthday . He said he like it. The food was small portions and not worth the value.

Made reservations for a Thursday night dinner. I walked in and stood at the hostess desk for about a minute while the hostess continued to talk to the sushi chef. After being acknowledged, the interaction was short and dry. I started to reconsider my decision for dinner. After being seated in the bar area (where I reserved because it’s usually quick service) we were brought water (that we asked for) and waited almost 45 minutes for two entrees. I requested medium well steak and received well done tough steak. No fuss was made as we had already waited 45 minutes. I started going to the Minneapolis location on Louisiana Avenue after being disappointed by the MOA location but this location is going down the same road.

We have not been to Benihana for years and are sorry about it. This meal far surpassed our expectations. This was the restaurant week selection. We had so much food and it all was so tasty. So much that we took home leftovers to have an additional meal. Danielle who served our table was super as was Julia the bartender.

Very disappointed this time around. Received my 1st drink and server never came back until chef was done. She looked very unhappy to be there. Ordered rocks choice - steak was big, chicken only got 5 pieces were the lady next to me got 16. Paid a lot of money for such poor service and not all of my order. Chef did a great job cooking!

Went at an off peak time. Quiet. The cook Christian was amazing. He was nice, personable. He made sure to cook each item appropriately. The best cooked food I have ever experienced at this restaurant. Please give this cook a raise. If I had food cook this way I would return more often.

We had a reservation at 430 and didn’t actually eat until 6:10. We were a party of 2 out for early date night and were seated with another 5 individuals. Our group as a whole did not get the run down of how the experience works so the others in our party were very confused, which is what I assume made the evening complicated. Service was not good, food was not good and the evening as a whole was ruined when we sat for 20+ minutes without acknowledgment. We had to grab a manager/server to ask about our meals after we had been seated for almost an hour with only drinks. We asked to pay during entrees because we had to be home by 7, we thought 2 hours was going to be more than enough time to go out. We also didn’t get the 6th course because we had to run. When we did pay there was a service charge on our bill? Was that the tip? We were confused and the server just kept apologizing. We are frequent Benihana lovers but if this was our first time, we wouldn’t go back.

Positives: Jose, our chef, put on a good show and prepared mostly tasty food. Our server was good about refilling drinks and removing dirty dishes. Negatives: When we were seated, the host warned us to be careful of the floor because it is slippery. We found oil all over the floor as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a month. The floor was dangerously slippery. The hood vent over the grill did not work so when the chef was preparing the food, smoke was billowing all around us making our eyes burn and our clothes smelled afterwards. The light on the grill did not work either making it hard to watch the chefs show, which is part of what we pay the inflated prices for. The service was very slow at the start, we waited about 20 minutes for a glass of water. Our reservation was at 4 o’clock, so the restaurant was not overly busy at this time. There was also no music in the area we were seated and no ambience whatsoever. It is really unfortunate that this restaurant can’t seem to get it together. Year’s ago it was a good spot, now it is an overpriced dive.
