Atmosfera affascinante

Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. All the while, the tavern continued to provide food, shelter and cheer to the hungry, weary soldiers fighting for their independence. Today, we honor our historic tavern’s tradition with a mission to raise the spirits of our guests. We invite you to experience the small and large plates, craft beers and revolutionary hospitality that is Black Powder Tavern.

The food and drinks were very, very good. However, the service was lacking. I took a long time for our initial drink order to arrive. We had to ask for water refills a couple of times. Once we were done eating our dirty plates sat there and sat there and sat there even though our server passed our table numerous times. My husband finally asked her to take the plates. She took two and left the rest there.

We enjoyed yet another dining experience at Black Powder Tavern. We appreciate the varied menu, well-executed dishes and delightful service. We bought a gift card (with $20 bonus thrown in!) so we'll definitely be back to enjoy BPT again.

The tavern has a nice, historical look but the food was very average/okay. We went because we had a gift card/certificate. We received both receipts for the gift card because the gifter said you ran out of cards but was assured we could use it. So your restaurant made money on very unimpressive food. I know you could have looked up the transaction but you didn’t. We won’t be going back.

Greeters were personable and attentive. Stopped at the bar to wait for the rest of my party and bartenders were busy but handled it well and were polite and fast. Table was set nicely and our server came soon to offer menus and options. Service throughout was prompt but unobtrusive. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the history. Food was very good and portions were generous. I plan to go back!

We felt like having a light meal and BP hit the nail on the head. I had the super delicious BBQ chicken wings with a small salad, my partner had the soup of the day, Tomato Bisque which he loved and also had a small salad. Everything was excellent. Our server, Max, was most accommodating. We can always count on the Black Powder Tavern for a great meal!l

So we go here a lot as it is my MIL’s favorite burger spot. This was our first time on a Friday evening. While i love live entertainment, in this small space it was to loud. I couldn’t hear across the table. Everything else was lovely just way to loud
