Atmosfera affascinante

Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. All the while, the tavern continued to provide food, shelter and cheer to the hungry, weary soldiers fighting for their independence. Today, we honor our historic tavern’s tradition with a mission to raise the spirits of our guests. We invite you to experience the small and large plates, craft beers and revolutionary hospitality that is Black Powder Tavern.

Very good food. The uneven table surface is odd and not great for martini glasses. The servers were all very nice and we had a great time. We will be back!!

Everything was perfect for a Valentine's Day lunch. The calamari, tomato bisque and club sandwich were delicious. Service was attentive.

I have been there many times but the food today was only so so. The Thai salad was really not edible - too much vinegary and little to enjoy - couldn’t eat it. Dessert was good - over all disappointment

I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. Overall we all enjoyed our meal.

We had a very mixed experience for our first time dining at this establishment . We made our reservation for a Saturday evening and we pleased with how quick we were able to get in. We were greated and seated quickly. The place was nice, the food was great and I would eat here again but I will request a different server. Our server made our visit very awkward from her one word responses to her refusal to sell me a side of mashed potatoes. Not sure what this was about but her refusal to allow me to order a side of mashed potatoes was by far the most awkward and confusing experience I have ever had while dining out. Our server told us not only could I not order an extra side of mashed potatoes, but they were not an option at all at the establishment. Confused, we pointed it out on the menu and also that it came with my husbands meal. She insisted the answer was no and they would only do sweet potatoes. We ordered and when the food came my husband had regular mashed potatoes while I had sweet and was not able to order and extra side at all. The server noticed my immediate reaction and then immediately asked if something was wrong. I looked at her and expressed my confusion. She agreed to get me a side of mashed potatoes at this time, but I cannot express the confusion I was experiencing. All other parts of this restaurant was great but I would never recommend the server we had to anyone.

Our cocktails were mixed perfectly, our appetizers were delicious: hot crab dip, crispy Brussels sprouts, and bacon wrapped blue cheese stuffed figs. Service was very good. Definitely recommend.
