A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.

Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.

A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.

The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

We go to the "Brig" for lunch at the bar often... first dinner experience in quite awhile, it was fabulous in every way! Valet parking perfect!

This was our first time to dine at the Brigantine but, hopefully, not our last. We were greeted warmly by the hostess who kindly informed us that our reserved table would be ready in a short time, our reservation time, and in the meantime we could sit at the bar and she would find us when our table was ready. We sat at the bar, ordered glasses of wine and about ten minutes later, we were seated at a nice table with a view. Our waiter, Matt, was kind, informative and attentive. The food, a mixture of three different fish entres and one chicken was excellent. The evening could not have been better.

We have dined at the Brigantine in a few locations of Southern California for many years. It is one of our favorite places to go for a nice dinner. This time was no exception. The food was excellent, the service outstanding and the views of DelMar beautiful. An outstanding backdrop for a nice evening. We give the restaurant our usual solid reviews despite a kind of odd experience. Upon arrival, the hostess at the desk said she saw that we were celebrating an anniversary. I responded yes and told her it was our 50th wedding anniversary. She and her assistant oowed and awwed and oh wowed for a few seconds. They then proceeded to take us to a table for two in the pathway for the waitpersons, kitchen help and busboys carting dishes past us for the two hours we were there. Strange, not exactly the setting we imagined. I guess we were presumptuous to think that sometime, at any moment, the restaurant would acknowledge our anniversary with a candle and some sort of crumpet. Instead, the waitperson asked if we needed to see a dessert menu. When she returned, my wife just asked her outright if she knew about our anniversary. She replied no. To her credit, she offered us “something”. She tried but it was too late. The Brigantine just wasn’t interested in celebrating with us. Kind of odd, again faulty expectations on our part, but disappointing none the less.

Love the view and the food but our table, right in the doorway and next to the dirty dish station where every bus person and waiter threw dirty dishes into various bins was really disturbing and so loud even over the incredulous din of the crowd. Food was a flying off these dishes. Also our sever who had the personality of a mollusk took way too long to even bring water. Arrogant and slow are the only two nice words I have to describe him. Not a lot of happy workers there, may have been the mollusks effect on those around him. The food was good!

We eat there all the time , but we sit at bar normally ! We sat at table with friends and service was not great !!! :(
