Established in 1941, Cedar Knoll is a historic restaurant with sweeping views of the Potomac River. Cedar Knoll is set just off the beautiful George Washington Parkway, which makes for a scenic drive. The restaurant was built around a log cabin dating back to the early 1800's, so the history is apparent from the moment you step inside. Each room possesses charming qualities adding to the ambiance. Whether you dine in the comfortable elegance of the Presidential Room or the natural splendor of the Botanical Room, both set the perfect stage for an evening with family, friends, and loved ones. Cedar Knoll is conveniently located minutes between Old Town Alexandria and George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate.

                                            Great historical atmosphere but food content was lacking and quality was decent.  Was underwhelmed by quality and quantity, especially for the price.

                                            We had the perfect winter brunch, at this lovely, quiet restaurant overlooking the Potomac. Beside a real fireplace!! The food was excellent and the service was just right. We left commenting on how rare this combination is today.

                                            Overall a very bad experience. Calamari was tough and lacked flavor. Filet was tough and lacked flavor. Crab cakes were very small for price and lacked flavor. Entrees took an hour to come out after our appetizer. Another server, not ours, noticed the very long wait for the food and our obvious unhappiness. She gave us a discount on our bill but outside of this the experience was terrible. Food is way overpriced of the quality. We will not be returning.

                                            Cedar Knoll is our favorite spot to dine, relax and unwind whenever the stresses of everyday life pile up. Chef Andrew is a MASTER with one of his signature dishes, Virginia Rockefeller oysters. I have had oysters Rockefeller in every state down the east coast from New York to Key West and Chef Andrew's are the best I have ever tasted. You will never be disappointed ....that's my story and I'm stick'en to it. Captain Newton Potomac River Captain

                                            This was our first visit to the restaurant and it was lovely. We were nearly the only guests because we just had a snow event a few days prior. So it was quiet and it allowed us to talk easily and walk around and enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. Food was excellent and I highly recommend. For dessert, we had the Chai soufflé. I would not classify it as a soufflé, but it was even better than expected. It was dense and flavorful and I would have loved a bigger piece!! We would love to visit again during sunlight hours so we can see the water!

                                            My wife and I dined here for New Year's Eve. Cedar Knoll served a fixed price dinner that consisted of good-sized samplings of different appetizers, main courses and desserts. All of the servings were very well prepared. Notably, the Beef Wellington and duck were excellent. We were served by a very attentive waitress named Khadija. Cedar Knoll has a nice atmosphere, especially the room we dined in which was the Presidential room. This cozy room has dark wood paneling, a fireplace, and a view of the Potomac River.

                                            Our Sunday brunch was delicious and the service was impeccable. We loved the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer. The greens salad with pomegranate was refreshing. As for our entrees, the veal scallopini and oyster stew were outstanding! Very relaxing. Never rushed. We must visit this gem of a restaurant more often.
