Established in 1941, Cedar Knoll is a historic restaurant with sweeping views of the Potomac River. Cedar Knoll is set just off the beautiful George Washington Parkway, which makes for a scenic drive. The restaurant was built around a log cabin dating back to the early 1800's, so the history is apparent from the moment you step inside. Each room possesses charming qualities adding to the ambiance. Whether you dine in the comfortable elegance of the Presidential Room or the natural splendor of the Botanical Room, both set the perfect stage for an evening with family, friends, and loved ones. Cedar Knoll is conveniently located minutes between Old Town Alexandria and George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate.

                                            Be patient to eat at Cedar Knoll. Our waiter was terrific. Thank you Raffeil! Food very good and the ambience historic. The problem is the cook staff and bar are under staffed so waiters have to rely on little management control. They could do so much better! They are close but 2yrs ago, they were close. Need more help

                                            Service was very poor. Food was excellent - chef came out to discuss the menu because the server was unable to speak to the menu or answer questions. Very disappointing service.

                                            This is a place rich with history. The restaurant decorates with a wonderful feeling of warmth and charm. Came to listen to the Thursday music fare and it was fabulous. Were able to finish our diner seated outside (on a particularly warm November evening) and listen to the beautiful strains of Gypsy Rumba.

                                            We were a table of 4 and were seated in booth with window overlooking Potomac River. Our choices included veal scalopine, beef fillet, venison and rockfish. All quite good; only criticism heard was over salty rockfish. Filet perfectly cooked as ordered (rare); venison excellent. Also enjoyed cocktails, wine and desserts (peanut pie, chocolate-hazelnut and chai flavored cake); all flavor-balanced/not just sweet-sweet. So nice to enjoy slow-paced white-tablecloth meal in environment with no noise distractions, allowing for conversation.

                                            What a pleasant surprise. We gave up on Cedar Knoll years ago but decided to try again. Wow, what a keeper. The ambience was fantastic, the service excellent and the food was a delight. We live in Old Town and will be putting this on our regular list!

                                            We were able to book an 8:00 reservation, but the restaurant looked as if it was shutting down when we arrived. The host was gracious to take us in and our server was genteel the entire time. I had a delicious autumnal soup and mushroom tart. My interpretation of the tart was slightly off as it is more custardy than mushroom-filled. It was good. My husband had fritters and oyster stew (maybe). The ambiance is great for a quiet evening dinner. I can’t speak to the value as I didn’t pay. We never felt pressured to wrap it up, which is appreciated. We scooted out as soon as we completed our meal though.
