As an appetizer I liked the East Coast oysters platter presented nicely with dry ice and all the accompaniments. Great hot popovers offered with a fresh bread selection. I had the Pub crab-cake and it was the best and freshest in a long time. My wife loved the shredded short ribs with fresh, soft gnocchi.

Really lovely dinner. Very busy for Sunday night but figuring its Valentines weekend it made sense. That didnt stop the service from being top notch, nor the food. Drinks were great, apps, and mains were delicious

It's pricey, but you get what you pay for: the food was excellent, the service was great, the staff was very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was quite nice. They were also able to accommodate my wife's gluten allergy with no issues whatsoever, and that's always a plus.

This was our valentine dinner. The place was very nice! All the host were wearing nice red dresses, the got me and my husbands coats and sat us at a timely manner. Got a beautiful flower and a great table with a nice view, we got a good waiter that informed us about the menu and showed us some good choices of drinks and food. Appetizers were good! And the main meal was amazing! Had a surf and turf and my husband got a loaded lobster, and a strong lemon drop. Overall the staff was nice cared for our needs and told us goodnight as we were leaving. 10/10

We dined yesterday for Valentine’s Day, and our experience was just ok. The food was good, nice ambience, but the service was very poor. The waiter was nice but failed to check in on us while he stood talking to other tables for over 5 minutes. He gave us the wrong side dish but did not come back to our table for us to let him know. We also ordered wine and beer to have with our entrees but they came 5 minutes after we were done with our food. The server then came back to try and sell us dessert but at that point we just wanted to go home. Poor time management with the server that costed us having a good evening. For the cost of dinner at Char, good service is expected, we were just disappointed with this experience.

From when we arrived until we left, we were treated so well by the staff at Char. They made the evening extra special with the decorations and gave every couple a carnation. The waiter/sommelier, Steven, was knowledgeable and recommendation great items for the meal.

The service was really great, our waiter was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe was dark, moody and intimate which I really enjoyed. The only issue with the ambience is the patrons at the bar had a very casual feel about them and were quite loud at times. It didn’t quite fit the feel of the restaurant. The food didn’t blow me away. There were a couple of things that were really good - the charred oysters from the specials menu were amazing and definitely the best thing we had that night. The seafood tower is not worth it, it’s $35pp and you get one piece of each seafood per person. It was underwhelming. For mains, I got the Chilean Seabass after it was recommended by my waiter (I’m pescatarian) and I didn’t like it at all, I couldn’t even finish it. The sauce is barely present and the fish felt jiggly. My boyfriend got the cowboy ribeye medium rare and it came out fully rare, which I guess is better than overcooking the meat. He still enjoyed it. For sides, the death by potatoes was really good, I don’t even like mashed potatoes but these were tasty. However, the “shaved truffles” on top were more like truffle sprinkles and felt like a cheap topping, it wasn’t what I was expecting from the description. We also got creamed spinach which was more like a spinach soufflé, there was no creamy texture to be found. It tasted fine but definitely not up to par. My biggest issue with the experience was that I booked through open table and made a note that it was for a birthday and they didn’t do anything with that information, they didn’t even ask. I kept waiting to see if they were going to do anything to acknowledge it and they never did. All in all, my boyfriend really enjoyed his birthday dinner and that’s the most important thing. I’m happy about that. I acknowledge this isn’t the most expensive steakhouse, but it is still a steakhouse and for the surrounding area, it is one of the higher class establishments, so I was expecting more.
