Chez Catherine is consistently rated one of the Best French Restaurants in New Jersey. It provides a wonderful dining experience from the warm greeting when you enter to the last sip of wine. This mainstay of Westfield, NJ for the last 38 years delivers quality cuisine and impeccable service.
The owner, Stephane Bocket was born in Dunkerque, France. Stephane was the Maitre d'Hotel for 12 years before purchasing Chez Catherine in 2016. His career spans many years at Alain Ducasse's restaurants in NYC and France and before that in a number of other restaurants throughout France.
The Chef de Cuisine is Christine Migton. Christine graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Her dishes revisit traditional French cuisine but use different flavors and tastes. She works to provide lighter and healthier ingredients wherever possible while maintaining that special French touch.

Delicious. Portions felt quite large for French cuisine!We’ve looked for a great French restaurant to go to since Les Rendezvous in Kenilworth closed and found it here. Overall, a great experience.

Certainly a hidden gem! We spent an incredible Christmas Eve dinner at Chez Catherine. The food was spectacular and the maître made great suggestions. The risotto was superb. We are definitely coming back soon!

Chez Catherine is our favorite fine dining restaurant in New Jersey. While there are many restaurants that have great food, none of them compare to the elegance and the experience of Chez Catherine. The current owner has restored Chez Catherine to its former status when Catherine owned the restaurant. It's a small restaurant located in a Best Western hotel, but don't let it fool you. The service is outstanding, as is the food. You can order a 3 or 4 course price fix menu. The wine list is large, varied, with outstanding vintages from both the US and Europe. My wife had the foie gras (a $20 supplement) and I had the risotto of the day (crumbled sausage, red cabbage, parmesan cheese). Both were outstanding. We both opted for the Duck Confit entree. It was delicious. For dessert, my wife ordered the Raspberry Souffle ($5 supplement) and I had the Chocolate Bread Pudding. They were delicious, and as we left we made reservations to return in January.

The restaurant is very nice and both of the Wait staff are French which adds a nice touch to the Ambiance. The Scallops were very good as was the Risotto, my wife loved the Butternut Squash soup (which was prepared very differently than usual) but wasn't crazy about her Chicken Stew dinner. It was more a choice she made than that quality of the food. The desserts were great, the Crepe Suzette was prepared beautifully at the table and the Crepe al Pomme and Poire was delicious as well. We will go back next time we are in town.

As always the food was superb. The service and attention to detail are one of their many strengths. Although expensive, it is a worthwhile experience for a special evening.

Absolutely outstanding- Delicious food and attentive service! Our server, Milan, made our evening even more enjoyable, encouraging my wife to speak French. We loved the duck and the scallop special. If you are a fan of “eau de vie” you must try the mirabelle (plum) version. We can’t wait to go back!
