Chez Catherine is consistently rated one of the Best French Restaurants in New Jersey. It provides a wonderful dining experience from the warm greeting when you enter to the last sip of wine. This mainstay of Westfield, NJ for the last 38 years delivers quality cuisine and impeccable service.
The owner, Stephane Bocket was born in Dunkerque, France. Stephane was the Maitre d'Hotel for 12 years before purchasing Chez Catherine in 2016. His career spans many years at Alain Ducasse's restaurants in NYC and France and before that in a number of other restaurants throughout France.
The Chef de Cuisine is Christine Migton. Christine graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Her dishes revisit traditional French cuisine but use different flavors and tastes. She works to provide lighter and healthier ingredients wherever possible while maintaining that special French touch.

          My wife took me out for a birthday dinner and I couldn't have been more pleased. Owner Stephan and maitre d' Milan were friendly, professional and made the evening fun and lighthearted with their knowledge and their humor. Very nice wine list if you enjoy fine wines at reasonable prices and our dishes, each and every one, were well prepared and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. For those who may avoid going to an upscale French establishment such as Chez Catherine thinking it too "snooty" or fancy for you, put that thought out of your mind and go. The owner and staff here will make you feel like you are in France and ensure you have a great experience. we will be returning.

          It was our first visit to Chez Catherine, and we will definitely be back. Food was delicious. We ordered froie gras, salad, lamb shank, entrecote, creme brulee and chocolate mousse. A+ for every dish. Delicious, perfect temperature, precise texture in every dish. Coffee was hot as a pleasant surprise. Service was excellent as well. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.

          We visited this restaurant after many years to celebrate a milestone birthday and it lived upto our memories in service, ambience, food and cocktails. Sadly we were the only people there at lunch on a Thursday. Later 2 others came in also to celebrate a birthday. It is amazing that this lovely restaurant has survived.

          This restaurant never fails to be perfect. From the friendly service to the amazing food and drinks, it is all executed perfectly. They made our anniversary dinner truly special.

          Head waiter was very teasing & sarcastic to me, to the point that I had to ask him to stop, as he was ruining the enjoyment of our evening. Have never been treated like this at a restaurant in my life. My wife was surprised at the waiters uncalled for attitude towards me, and was proud of me for sticking up for myself. We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to have a romantic dinner. His comments completely ruined the atmosphere. Food was excellent. It's a shame we won't go back nor recommend this restaurant due to the way I was treated.
