Today was the second time of having afternoon tea here and it did not disappoint. I love that they do free sandwich refills and for me the portions are right, largest is sandwiches and small little desserts. Would recommend.

I believe I've reviewed The Rise restaurant before, as my wife & I have visited this beautiful restaurant previously. Afternoon tea at The Rise is an experience. As soon as you walk in the door of The Grand hotel York, you're offered first class service, the staff are friendly, fully attentive & efficient. The food itself is outstanding, beautifully created savoury & sweet options, they're works of art, proving the chef's to be masters of their craft. As it was my 60th birthday, a glass of fine English sparkling wine was a worthy extra. A fine selection of special teas are available, something for everyones taste. I can't praise this experience enough, & I guarantee, you'll want to repeat this special experience. I thoroughly recommend a visit to The Rise for afternoon tea.

Arrived early not was not a problem, staff gave us chance to get settled. Came and took drinks order and gave us menu's to look at, orders were taken efficiently. Food arrived altogether all wonderfully plated. Steak was just 👌 perfect. Chips were amazing. Given time in-between main and ordering desert. Desert was amazing . Totally 💯 service and 💯 food we will definitely be returning

Lovely afternoon tea in the Garden Room. The sandwiches were nice and the scones were great, they were warmed and served with jam and clotted cream. We had the festive afternoon tea which meant the cakes were festive themed, I would prefer them be the usual cakes. I wasn’t a fan of the Christmas pudding or mince pie flavour. Overall, it was great. I would go back for regular afternoon tea but not the festive one due to the cakes. Service was amazing

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch, great food and the ladies who served us were both very sociable and accommodating. Highly recommend
