French Quarter Bistro was opened in 2018 in the heart of Frenchtown by Ed and Amoi Foerstel due to their love of all cuisine, Cajun. Creole is derived from the many cultures who have settled in New Orleans, including; French, Spanish, West African, Caribbean, German, Italian, and Irish. Cajun is derived from the French-speaking Acadians who settled in the bayous south of New Orleans. The influences of the French are the most prominent of both cuisines. Almost all of our Creole and Cajun dishes begin with a stock (poultry, beef, or seafood), trinity (onions, green bell peppers, celery), and a roux (blonde, brown, or dark), lending a unique flavor to our Gumbo and other dishes. Great experience from seating through dessert. We had an attentive waitress, both food and wine menus were extensive and we appreciated the views and general ambience. Highly recommend.

When we checked in for our reservation at 11:26, a seemingly disgruntled hostess told us they don’t serve lunch until 11:30 so we walked through the shop and checked out the waterfront. When we came back at 11:30, the same hostess sat two or three walk in tables before us. When seated, we originally waited for service with no one coming to our table until Tim picked up our table and was very kind and hospitable. He understood we had been waiting for service and was responsive to our time limits due to a booked excursion. The food was fast and he brought our bill in anticipation of our quick departure. The food was overall good and we enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere!
