As a local who’s eaten and traveled various places, I can say Chequers was a joy to experience. Perfect Sunday roast with a great wine list that doesn’t cost the earth.

Me and my daughter had a lovely early dinner here on Friday night the host and our server were so helpful and made sure we were well taken care off - definitely be back!

Martin was most welcoming and for that alone we will be back. It was a busy service. Starters were excellent, my friend enjoyed her fishcake with a perfectly poached egg. My shepherd’s pie was good. The creamed spinach was very good. A well chilled bottle of Chenin Blanc complemented the meal. Thank you. Overall a wonderful dining experience which we highly recommend!!

All staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food and what we had was excellent. Only wish maybe a slightly cheaper wine choice

Free parking on site, a very nice hotel, came for afternoon tea - it's a good price of £21.50pp, it was very good.
