It all began with a love story and a dream. Linwood, a chef, and Ellen, a reporter, met 36 years ago in a restaurant of course! They married and began to envision that someday they would open a restaurant of their own. The restaurant’s first business plan was written at their dining room table on an electric typewriter. In 1988 Linwoods opened its doors, and it has been a labour of love for more than thirty years. Linwoods’ cuisine consists of the freshest ingredients, and inventive preparation. Our service is warm and attentive. We have developed a reputation for consistency an attention to detail. These qualities are key to our catering business as well. We have seating available in our large dining room, our bar & lounge, a seasonally-opened outdoor area, and a small private dining space available for intimate dinner parties. We are conveniently located on 36th Street, commonly known as "the Avenue" in Hampden. Metered parking is available in a full lot in the rear of the restaurant as well as the front and surrounding streets. Entrances are located at both the front and rear and are easily accessible for all.

We were warmly greeting as soon as we walked in the door for our 12:30 reservation and seated in a comfortable and roomy booth. Mark was our server today and he could not have been more accommodating to us, with a very genuine personality while making good recommendations from the menu. We had a great afternoon.

Lamb chops perfectly cooked (6 of them) crab * corn soup delishes as always. Just needs again some more crab meat. Used to be more generous. Crem brulee was served at room temp. Glad it wasn't cold. Overall very nice dinner.

This is an excellent spot for a friends luncheon! We enjoyed bookmaker salad (spectacular), the crab quiche, fish and chips and the shrimp salad! Crab soup is very good, a bit pricey. Smith Island cake... the best! And thanks to Aislinn C. our super server! Attentive and helpful!
