La Palombe is a new neighbourhood bistro from restaurateur James Chiavarini (also of Il Portico) & chef patron Jake Leach (previously head chef at the three Michelin starred The Ledbury).A large wood burning grill takes center stage where the majority of the dishes are cooked over live embers. Nice dinner at Cote Wimbledon - catching up with friends. Service good and appreciated the kids menus. Adult sirloin steak generally had a lot of grisle and the burger was not as ordered. Saying that - generally a nice dinner

On arrival, a very stylish lady called Monica led us to our table and with great warmth said I understand it is someone’s birthday and can I pour you a glass of champagne. That was it - instantly myself and my guest felt welcome, special and very happy to be there! I had stated in my booking it was for a birthday but I was still highly impressed with that immediate attention to detail. It set the tone brilliantly and it really made my day. Our original waitress was excellent too - very on the ball though unfortunately I did not get her name. We had a fabulous lunch, great food and a lively, fun atmosphere. The staff are generally very good here but a special thanks to Monica who is excellent at her job. I will most definitely be back and soon.
