Great birthday dinner , spectacular staff and service

10/10, blew away my expectations and I already had high expectations. Went for brunch with. my family, and every single person (including the kids) was overjoyed with how amazing the food was. We love being able to watch the chefs do their thing in the kitchen!

Alo is a masterclass in modern fine dining, offering an unforgettable tasting menu experience in the heart of Toronto. From the moment you arrive, the attention to detail is evident—impeccable service, a beautifully curated ambiance, and a menu that seamlessly blends innovation with classic technique. Each dish in the tasting menu is a work of art, showcasing seasonal ingredients with exquisite flavors and textures. The courses flow effortlessly, with highlights ranging from delicate seafood preparations to perfectly executed meats and creative vegetable-forward dishes. Every bite is balanced, refined, and deeply satisfying. Service at Alo is nothing short of exceptional. The waitstaff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience. Great food, service and ambiance… but a terrible reservation system. It may seem like a small thing — but it’s the first experience. The OpenTable reservation system is terrible. We booked two months in advance — which led to innumerable texts, emails, push-notifications, reminders, and multiple confirmations of “I know we asked yesterday… and the day before… and last week… but are you *really* still coming?”. (It takes a lot to get me to complain about a reservation system… but it’s *really* that bad.) However, once you’re seated, the food, service and ambiance of the place is absolutely wonderful. Would highly recommend the dining experience.

We finally tried Alo after hearing much great things. We sat at “The Bar at Alo” for a St-Valentines fixed menu. The Service was outstanding from all staff and the food / cocktails were indeed deserving of their Michelin Star. Ambiance and decor in the bar area was a bit dark for our taste. I found the prices to be a bit steep, but not outside the norm at this level. The wine pairing was interesting and will get two of their featured bottles. However, I wonder why they chose to feature a US bottle in their pairing at this particular time. Overall great experience, will likely try their main dining area in the near future.
