The oldest family run restaurant in London. Spanning 6 decades and three generations, Il Portico Restaurant on Kensington High Street has been cooking regional Italian specialities since it was first opened in the 1960"s by acclaimed chef Pino Chiavarini. Still managed to this day by the same family, siblings James and Francesca draw heavily from their roots, providing simple, authentic Italian food from their home region of Emilia Romagna and beyond. Whilst the family are always on hand to welcome you in, our Executive chef, Eduardo (currently in his 25th year of service with us) concentrates on slow, homemade dishes with a sense of history and provenance.

The owners of Locanda Ottoemezzo Italian restaurant in London’s Kensington, just a few moments’ walk from the High Street, are film aficionados extraordinaire. In particular, their admiration of Federico Fellini’s masterpiece 8 ½ has inspired them to name their delightful restaurant after it and to decorate the interior with 8 1/2 – themed details. The general vibe of this charming and accomplished neighbourhood restaurant is vibrant and warm and full of colour with collectors’ details like rare LPs, books, instruments and a precious 1963 poster of the film. Locale veramente italiano. Ottimi gli antipasti ( capesante gratinate e parmigiana di melanzane). Cotoletta alla milanese magnifica, carne morbida e panatura perfetta. Ritorneremo.

Sono stata con la famiglia in questo ristorante. Personale molto gentile e disponibile. Titolare simpatico e premuroso. Sicuramente un ottimo posto! I piatti curati e molto buoni. Il conto negli standard londinesi, forse un po' alto per gli standard italiani. Ma ne è valsa la pena!
