We've been welcoming locals and visitors to Surry Hills for over fifteen years. Some of us have been here for that long, watching the local kids grow up - and join the Pieno team.We invite our customers to drop in regularly, to never feel rushed and to enjoy the garden, food, coffee, cocktails and friendly service. Our friends at Single O provide us with beautiful beans! The team are friendly, professional and always happy to deliver personalised service.. There’s cold beers, spritzy cocktails and plenty of juicy wines both natural + nostalgic. Join us inside, up at the counter or outside in one of our two courtyards. Share some plates and have some fun.We don't like to play favourites but you should DEFINITELY try the Hazelnut Muhammara (blitzed red pepper dip topped with a sprinkling of pomegranate, roast hazelnuts, coffee grinds and native honey). Pair it with one of our Jerusalem Bagels (baked like a baby sourdough [rather than boiled] and brushed with pomegranate molasses before it gets popped in the oven). The pumping soundtrack will take you on many journeys but at its heart-and-soul it's really all about your favourite 90s-sing-along-pop-power-ballads 🎶We're just around the corner from the Coke Sign and 2 mins from Kings Cross Station.

Simone, the Head Chef and co-owner of Zafferano grew up inside the kitchen of his family's restaurant in Porticello, Sicily and brings that passion and authenticity to his food. We combine local, fresh, seasonal ingredients with passion and tradition, to create a menu that is endlessly devoted to flavour and quality. We have a love for food, for the whole experience. We believe in celebrating just how powerful food can be, from the seed to the plate. Because connection through food is our mission. Our space is intimate with only 38 seats and the overall vibe of the restaurant really transports you to Sicily with an outdoor courtyard that feels like a traditional Italian piazza. We have a few signature dishes however the Risotto Marinara & Spaghetti Marinara are definitely at the for front of our menu.

The food was incredible - so tasty and not overpriced. Our waitress was brilliant but having to wait over an hour for two cocktails was not. It was a busy night though so hoping it was just an anomaly and not the norm. We will definitely be back.

Second visit. First time we tried the tasting menu. This time chose our own. So much yummy food. Halloumi , broccoli, and salad all great. Loved cauliflower and the antic beef was perfect
