Borealis Bistro is a student run dining experience. By incorporating menu planning, plate presentation, food preparation, hosting, table service, time budgeting and management, students are given real-world restaurant experience. Located in the James T. Hutchison High School, operated by the UAF Community and Technical College's Culinary Arts & Hospitality Program, Borealis Bistro operates seasonally on Thursdays. Borealis Bistro has a Prixe Fixe Menu, for $15, that includes a choice of soup or salad, entree and a beverage. Appetizers and deserts are available for an additional fee. Reservations are required and may be booked Friday thru Wednesday, with a text to follow. Borealis Bistro reservations may be made two weeks in advance.

Lunch, dinner or Sunday Brunch overlooking the beautiful Chena River. Great burgers, salads, seafood and steaks, locally owned since 1969. Great outdoor deck, cozy bar, lounge and dining room, chef-owned restaurant welcoming locals and tourists in a log cabin setting with wood burning fireplace in the bar and six outdoor fire pits in summer on a deck that seats 300 people. We host the Yukon 800 boat race in summer, have been the winter host to the Iditarod sled dog race and have an active boat launch for outdoor enthusiasts and a free dock for boaters. Pike's is an authentic, unique pillar of Fairbanks known for great food and friendly staff and a memorable stop while visiting fairbanks.
