Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. In the more informal Brasserie, a selection of favourites are cooked to perfection with the finest ingredients. The drinks offering is as exciting with an AA Notable Wine List, premium spirits, and cocktails. There is also a private dining room for corporate and private occasions.

Utter Waffle - a gem within the South London brunch scene! We opened our Herne Hill restaurant in 2021, and since have become an institution in Herne Hill's small but awesome food scene. Since our launch, we've collected a small cabinet of trophies and awards, and have even cooked our savoury waffles on Masterchef, Sunday Brunch & Saturday Kitchen!Our busy brunch restaurant serves everything from fried chicken & waffles and our signature avo smash, to bottomless brunch & craft beers. Absolutely loved it!! Friendly service, but not overbearing, wait staff had really good knowledge of wine list and menu. Also got to hear a bit of the origin story which is always really cool. Food absolutely banging! Fish selection was really good, lamb belly, chicken skewers and pork belly were standouts! Lamb belly might be the dish of the night! Dad’s broth was a fun addition and story. Best dinner in Peckham for a while! Definitely a returning customer!

We received prompt and friendly service without fuss. All 3 courses of our a la carte menu choice ( as there were 2 of us, this means 6 dishes tried ) were excellent ( eg. halibut, beef tartare, pork cheek. tandoori monkfish , baked coffee tart ). We expected a high quality of food and service and we were not disappointed. Our white wine was served appropriately chilled. The restaurant was busy in this lead up to Christmas and yet our server took time to explain the menu and courses were delivered in a timely fashion. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable eating experience.

We've eaten several times here and have found both the food and the staff to be excellent. Utter Waffle is a great go-to meeting/eating venue.
