The dining room is pleasingly modern and spacious, all pale walls with striking artworks, blond floors and furniture, and there is a lovely patio for lingering on and on. The Light House menu changes every day to make best use of the freshest seasonal ingredients and each dish is an adventure. Try perroche bruschetta with piquillo peppers, caperberries, babaganoush and Greek olives to start, perhaps followed by pan-fried sea bass on wild garlic leaves, courgettes, ratte potatoes and romesco sauce. Black pepper cheesecake with gooseberry compote is a winner, too. Guests enter an elegant lounge with hand-crafted India inspired furniture and is complemented by a beautiful pond decorated with fresh flowers, creating a luxurious aesthetic.Benares has 4 private dining rooms, three of which are around the lounge: the Berkeley Room which seats up to 16 guests, the Sommeliers Table which seats up to 10 guests and a Chefs Table overlooking the kitchen which seats up to 8 guests. The lounge area leads into the main dining room which can accommodate up to 80 guests. Smoke + Salt is an absolute gem, one of the best dining experiences in London, and such a treat to have as part of Tooting’s fantastic food scene. Our most recent evening here was as excellent as always. We opted for the seven course tasting menu, every course was delicious, perfectly cooked (particularly the fish course) and beautifully presented. We were so well looked after by the front of house staff and the chefs as we dined at the counter on the open kitchen (always fascinating to watch each course being prepared). We love Smoke + Salt and will be back asap!

Another outstanding tasting menu at lunch time. My table of three was delighted with every delicious course, served by charming staff in a very light and comfortable restaurant with beautiful decor. It could not be faulted. Very much equivalent to a two star restaurant but bizarrely TFT does not appear on the list at all - seems strange with all the plaudits that this French restaurant receives.

Hi there ,it’s was our first visit in this beautiful cozy restaurant close to Wimbledon station 🚉 We celebrated our anniversary,it’s was wonderful,serving so helpful and friendly,smiling) Atmosphere is so cozy and warm 🥳 Food is so so delicious 🤤 we highly recommend this restaurant for everyone 😊 All the best guys.
