In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Very pleased to have got a table in here. The team couldn't have done more to make sure we were happy and we both felt very well looked after, even though they were full. Great atmosphere and the food was superb! All homemade as far as we could tell and some great variations on the "standard" Thai fare you might get. Sharing platter was so varied and so tasty and Lamb Massaman was just gorgeous. Huge portions - I couldn't finish my lamb. Thank you for looking after us so well - we will be back!
