The Grape Variety is a neighbourhood, independent wine bar, shop and restaurant, selling great wines and food from around the world, located just 2 minutes from Chipstead Railway Station.We opened in the spring of 2018 with the aim that a wine bar should cater not just to experts, but to all, so we created one where our guests could unwind at the end of the day with a great wine in a warm, friendly and genuine environment, whilst getting sound advice about which wines to enjoy, as well as to take away.For food, we offer quality artisan cheese and charcuterie, alongside dishes such as baked Camembert, bakery sausage rolls, hot chorizo and potato, hummus with a spicy sauce, Spanish pâté and the like. On Thursdays, enjoy our wood fired pizza pop-up and our legendary Quirky Quiz runs every other Wednesday. This place is pretty discreetly located, but once you know, it is super easy to find, and is literally next door / under the tube station. Lovely and atmospheric, well renovated, food was ample and well presented, as was the beer and the wine. London prices. We would go again.

Justina and Gareth are great hosts and take a lot of trouble to explain their cheese and wine selection. They know the origin of each cheese and they have visited most of their producers and have a great understanding and depth of knowledge regarding the taste of each cheese,and the appropriate wine pairings!

Always a lovely evening. We had only booked a table for 2 but then needed a last minute extra and even though they were fully booked they were very accommodating. Great wine recommendations and good food.
