The idea of master chef Filippo Russo is to bring the Italian culture of gastronomy to Somerville, New Jersey. Through his philosophy, Da Filippo's Ristorante is recognized by European patrons spanning as far east as Japan and Singapore. With his profound knowledge in the culinary field Filippo Russo is able to present a level of authenticity through his dishes, replicating his mother's recipes as...well as the environment Filippo was exposed to in Sicily.

Over the years Da Filippo's Ristorante received numerous reviews from the New York Times, New Jersey Monthly Magazine and Zagat survey, The Star-Ledger and The American Academy of Restaurant and Hospitality Sciences. The most honorable recognition presentated to Filippo Russo is the Luigi Veronelli Award of Northern American fine Italian dining and Ignazio Miceli from Regaleali Winery Sicily. Second time there and I was not disappointed. Food was very good and the owner/chef comes around to see how everything was. Great service . Have to make it a point to have dinner there more often.

We had an outstanding meal. Good ambiance...great service. We have not been there for many years. We were extremely pleased with our return. We will be returning soon.

This charming gem of a restaurant has everything we used to take for granted: charming and attentive service, family run, delicious food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. You feel like pampered family when dining here and we highly recommend!

The pasta dishes are good but the cod was very bland with little taste. The prices based on the portion size are very high. Overall it’s just average IMO.

While the food is fantastic, it will be the owner and his wife making you feel like family. They are passionate about the food they prepare for you and the service they provide. I have never been disappointed.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner last night. The bruschetta was a great way to start. Our pasta dishes were delicious as well. Throughly enjoyed the dining and the piano player. Will definitely return to this family owned restaurant. The service was great too.

A great place the food was incredible the pace of dinner was amazing and the best part was the people felt like you were apart of the family what a great experience sure to be back.

The owners are delightful! Very willing to come out and converse with diners. Food is very good although they have raised their prices so it is a high priced BYO! Have been going there for years…..
