The idea of master chef Filippo Russo is to bring the Italian culture of gastronomy to Somerville, New Jersey. Through his philosophy, Da Filippo's Ristorante is recognized by European patrons spanning as far east as Japan and Singapore. With his profound knowledge in the culinary field Filippo Russo is able to present a level of authenticity through his dishes, replicating his mother's recipes as...well as the environment Filippo was exposed to in Sicily.

Over the years Da Filippo's Ristorante received numerous reviews from the New York Times, New Jersey Monthly Magazine and Zagat survey, The Star-Ledger and The American Academy of Restaurant and Hospitality Sciences. The most honorable recognition presentated to Filippo Russo is the Luigi Veronelli Award of Northern American fine Italian dining and Ignazio Miceli from Regaleali Winery Sicily.     Enjoyed a delicious dinner last night. The bruschetta was a great way to start. Our pasta dishes were delicious as well. Throughly enjoyed the dining and the piano player. Will definitely return to this family owned restaurant. The service was great too.

    A great place the food was incredible the pace of dinner was amazing and the best part was the people felt like you were apart of the family what a great experience sure to be back.

    The owners are delightful! Very willing to come out and converse with diners. Food is very good although they have raised their prices so it is a high priced BYO! Have been going there for years…..

    A very welcoming atmosphere with delicious food. The owners were very sociable and we had fun sharing stories. The piano playing was a nice touch as well. This should be on your list of to visit of must-try restaurants.

    This is the most amazing restaurant ever!! Always a great experience, with great service and food prepared to perfection! Filippo and his wife Berty are wonderful hosts that truly care about their customers. We love when Filippo comes out to play a few pieces on his baby grand piano. He really knows how to make you feel special and cared about. He takes such pride in every thing he cooks for us. We absolutely love coming here.

    This wasn’t just a meal, this was an experience! Of course the food was amazing—uncomplicated and delicious! What topped it off was the service—the hostess was so attentive, checking in with me regularly. The chef himself came to the table to present two of the courses, kindly explaining them to me. Definitely request the tasting menu if you’re willing to spend a little extra!

    It was a warm experience with gracious and attentive hosts. The food was authentic (we are Italian) and delicious. Highly recommended 👌

    This is a delightfully old-school, quiet restaurant that nice avoids the bustling nature of so many new places. Chef/Owner Filippo greets guests personally, and prepares delicious and creative Italian cuisine. We have been coming back for the past 20 years to this wonderful establishment. The owner’s wife Francesca goes out of her way to make each guest feel welcome.

    I went here for Date Night with my girlfriend and loved it. The ambiance was great and the food was even better. The Chef and staff were super nice and fast with the food and the drinks. The Chef's Choice menu was amazing. We will definitely be back for another date night! Thanks Chef!
