Tim Zekki was born and raised in Cyprus but has lived and worked in the UK for 35 years. He has a passion for local and seasonal ingredients, sourcing sustainable produce and items that he forages in Somerset woodlands and along the coast.

Tim’s menus reflect his travels worldwide and the food he loves. ‘My passion,’ he says, ‘is to combine simple ingredients - with some elaborate sauces - and my aim being nothing more than to delight the palate.’ In addition to the à la carte selection of sharing dishes, Tim offers a set, fixed-price multi-course menu once a month.

Local produce includes lamb and beef from Wonky Horn just outside Wiveliscombe, from the town’s local butchers, Thorne’s, and vegetables and salad sourced from nearby Wagtail Farm and Ray’s Veg at Halse.

We are located on the beautiful Argyle Street just over Pulteney Bridge and our smaller dining room, which can also be booked for private dining, overlooks Pulteney Weir.

Awarded 2AA rosettes for the last four years in a row for our restaurant and 4 gold star inn for our hotel in 2017, we work hard to provide our guests with the highest level of customer service and a quality experience across all aspects of the hotel. We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.
