The legendary history of Diorio Restaurant began in the 1920s. The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and reopened in 1991 after total restoration to its original splendor. The legend continues as we remain true to those endearing memories.

We have the original marble bar, over-sized mahogany bankers booths, tin ceiling, and the most impressive acid-etched mirrors displaying historical Waterbury. Diorio Restaurant has once again reclaimed its reputation as Waterbury's finest.

                                                                                        After a long time away from this restaurant due to the pandemic and it's closure after that, I did not know what to expect but it did not disappoint. The restaurant was busy and the bar was almost full. We were greeted promptly and given a nice booth to sit in. Our food was delicious as were the martinis. The server gave us suggestions based on our prompting. The desserts were delicious as well. I will definitely return again.

                                                                                        Kitchen was so backed up we waited well over an hour for our meals. It was not overly busy. Table next to us as well. Their server offered dessert , ours offered extra bread. Clamari was rubber rings. For $19 don’t bother. The veal diorio was very good. The rest of my family was not impressed with their meals. Probably won’t go back

                                                                                        1st time offender and we will be repeat offenders. Everything about this place is what we expected of an Italian Restaurant. The service was great as well as the food, what more could you ask for.

                                                                                        Requested "comfortable" seating due to back issues, and noted we were celebrating a birthday. Neither were acknowledged upon arrival. Rushed to seat and encouraged to order all at once to help out the cook because of show at the Palace. We complied, and we're rushed through dinner. We were done eating with an hour to spare. Extremely loud and difficult for conversation. However the food was great.

                                                                                        The calamari was good but the broccoli rabe & sausage was disappointing. The pappardelle bolognese was the very best!! Also pumpkin cheesecake outstanding!
