Sète (named after the coastal town in France) is a wine bar, shop, and kitchen. Our doors opened to the wine bar in October 2022 and the restaurant and garden in July 2023. The seasonal menu focuses on modern European cooking with a heavy French influence, highlighting the best produce Kent has to offer. Wine is certainly at the heart of what we love. With an ever evolving list that highlights old world classics, accessible natural wines, female winemakers and exciting next generation vintners. We also serve a seasonally changing list of wine on tap and host private tastings. Behind Sète is Natalia Ribbe who has worked across restaurants in Vienna, NYC and London, as well as the founder of the female collective; L.O.R. A luxurious spot designed and built by Vacuum Studio featuring a highly pigmented colour palette inspired by our global travels. Lighting is low, volume can get high and the intimate booth seating is a perfect facilitator for conversation. Our menu is comprised of snacks, appetisers, larger plates and deserts made entirely in-house* and their flavour profiles are amplified with chillis, herbs and citrus being heavily inspired by Los Angeles' multiculturalism.Our restaurant is compact and cosy with no extra space to accommodate prams and large dogs - if you do need to bring your dog to dinner please ensure they are comfortable in a busy restaurant atmosphere and are happy sitting on your lap or fit comfortably under your table. We welcome children in the restaurant however we do not have highchairs or a children’s menu. We have tailored the room to provide a fun, grown-up and safe space for all our guests and team. Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

    An absolutely lovely restaurant. Super ambience, very French brasserie feel. All sharing plates if required and everything tasted exceptional, simple and extraordinary quality produce . First visit but will definitely recommend to everyone I know for sure.

    Delicious lunch with yummy Caribbean flavours. We really enjoyed the food here and such great value too as went for the three course lunch offer. Highly recommend

    Absolutely outstanding meal at High Dive for Margate Restaurant Week. The pineapple taquito and crab tostada were standout. Gorgeous interiors, great ambience and playlist.

    Food was delicious. Cooked in good time and presented well. Staff were all polite, helpful and attentive. Always coming over to check if we was OK and enjoying our experience. Nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit and will be back. Thank you.
