The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Atmosphere, decoration and ambience was outstanding. Cocktails were creative and very delicious but rather overpriced Very disappointed in the cakes: mouse was very sharp, cheesecake was tasteless, shortbread was thin and most unlike shortbread I have had ever had before. Could do with changing those. We had a table by the door: very draughty : suggested they could do with blocking the table with a draft excluder around the table. Apart from those comments would definitely give it anither try.

A stylish place to eat, plenty of space. Waiters readily available. Lovely food, very varied with finishing touches added to the plate. We have only had brunch/lunch but can recommend the Turkish breakfast.

Absolute gem of a place. Lovely owners, attentive but not intrusive. Gorgeous food, beautiful setting. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a memorable afternoon.
