Established in 1959, owners Jenny Youll and Mike Sabina expanded the once small coffeehouse of St. Michaels Alley into this intimate dining establishment in 2009. The restaurant provides three comfortable spaces for a dinner out with friends, date night, or a complete private event. The main dining room is wood paneled and intimate. The front room / bar area is more casual and social, yet still offers tables with linens and the full menu. The solid wood bar is a favorite dining spot for many of the regulars and locals. All good. Good food. Very pleasant staff. One minor issue was … the volume of the TV playing the Giants game was overkill. (Perhaps there was a guest who was hard of hearing?). We were seated in a booth in the front part, and could not easily have a conversation.

Excellence all around, delicious & authentic cuisine, the veal schnitzel was amazing as always. The service was top in terms of attention, gracious, friendly welcome, quick to respond to any request and cozy delightful venue! A real gem in Palo Alto. Our favorite to have a lovely meal! Thank you team!! We certainly will be back again & again!!

This was a special family reunion, and my intuition about this place was correct. The food and service were as advertised, if not even better. The gently connected indoor and outdoor areas provides excellent flexibility with seating, bringing pets and so on. Specifically, the variety in the Sunday Brunch menu was outstanding, the quality of the food was exceptional, and the service provided by the waitress was a 10 out of 10. Highly recommend this place for a party of 1 or a party of 10 !
