Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Its chefs are inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients and its bar staff creates innovative cocktails and serves a range of wines by the glass and draught beers, as well. The menu at Meat & Potatoes is a new take on basic. There are classic appetizers like fried pickles, grilled bread and fried Brussels sprouts, as well as more innovative fare like fried pigs ear and buttermilk fried chicken liver. Meat & Potatoes mains include pot roast, salmon and lamb neck cassoulet.

Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor. Great overall experience! Allergy concious. They are very allergy conscious and ask for any food allergies straight away. Normally someone with me is GF but they were not there to truly test that full experience. Next time they visit home with me we fully plan to come back to give it the full experience!

The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The ambience was excellent. We loved our time there. The staff cared about us and one of us to have a wonderful experience and we did.. I will be returning next year.

My wife loved her scallops. The salmon was very creative and delicious. Potato soup was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly. They made sure we had time to get to our show. Would definitely recommend this establishment 👍👍

Delicious food and superb service. A little loud and tight for my taste, but it is one of my favorites. So glad it’s on the Northside.
