Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton—the women behind Canal House Station—are cooks, writers, and artists. In 2007 they founded Canal House, which includes a publishing venture and a culinary, photography, and design studio. Their cookbook "Canal House Cooks Every Day" received a James Beard Award in 2012. In 2019, Christopher and Melissa opened Canal House Station, a hidden gem tucked into an elegantly restored 1870s train station on the banks of the Delaware River in Milford, NJ. Their idiosyncratic, modern American cuisine is inspired by local ingredients that are ripe and in season in Hunterdon and Bucks County. They are two women, cooking together, and sharing their love of gathering people around the table to eat good food. Tasty as always! Friendly host and staff. They’re also supportive of the local community; I enjoy using my $20 voucher at Aman’s for giving blood!

Our table of 4 enjoyed 4 amazing appetizers (crispy chicken dumplings, grilled octopus, butternut fritters & pork belly), 4 delicious entrees (veal cheeks, rabbit ragu, short ribs and the pasta special), not to mention some really enjoyable cocktails. Hard to pick a favorite as everything was delicious. The menu encourages you to step outside of the box a little bit and it is so worth it. Our server, Chris, was fantastic. He gave some great recommendations, seemed to show up just when we needed him and he just added to our overall wonderful experience!

Excellent service excellent food overall great experience. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Everybody in the restaurant was friendly attentive. I couldn’t ask for a better place to eat.
