In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. Grotta di Fuoco, which translates to Fire Cave, is an industrial, rustic space with subtle lighting, raw steel, reclaimed wood, and concrete finishes. Step inside, descend below street level, and enter our vision of a cave. As for the fire, our focal point is a wood burning oven right next to the bar. You can sit close enough to feel the warmth, hear the crackle, and smell the scent of food being cooked, all while being entranced by the open flame. While Long Beach is rocking during the summer with the beach, Boardwalk, events, and outdoor dining, winter is when Grotta heats up. We have made Maggiano’s a Christmas Eve tradition, for 4 years now and 2024 was honestly the best dining experience we have had so far. All of the food was fantastic, and our waitress Keira was especially friendly and attentive. It will remain a Christmas Eve tradition for us!

Excellent service and authentic Spanish food. Next to my Tia's Paella, it is more than a presentable 2nd. Food you grow up with is always better :) We've been there before and will be there again. Thank you Sangria 71!

It is our family's annual tradition to go to tavern 18 for Christmas Eve dinner!! We always get our favorite table and the service, food and staff are wonderful. We are grateful for this family tradition.

I always enjoy coming to Dunns River. The music is good, the food is amazing and it’s the only sit down Caribbean experience that is top tier compared to the normal hole in the wall establishments with the plex glass separating the customers. Home run for date night. My only wish is that the music isn’t so loud all the time. It’s so hard to have a conversation. I stayed away from Friday & Saturday and picked a weekday date night thinking it would be a quieter background noise kind of night. Nope. We were still shouting at each other. After our meal we ending up walking around in the rain so we could hear each other lol. Something to consider for management maybe.
