From building society, to bank, to BEAR – this ornate old banking hall site on Derby’s Iron Gate stood empty and forgotten for 9 long years… until we came along.BEAR Iron Gate, Derby sits slap-bang in the centre of the city’s iconic and beautiful Cathedral Quarter; the original hotspot for high-quality food and drink. Opening in 2017 following the success of our Uttoxeter store, the progression to Derby seemed natural for BEAR, as our two founders spent a lot of time in the city as teens, so they have loads of fun memories attached to the place.

Exciting times here at The Dovecote, we are having a refurbishment!This affects reservations made between 17th Feb and 7th March, Opening hours will remain the same, however we will be moving the restaurant into our Granary Loft function suite while we carry out the works. Access will be through our function entrance.Unfortunately during this period there will be no disabled access or disabled toilets.We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.We are looking forward to welcoming you all back, customers old and new and hope you love the refurbishment as much as we do!
