Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. We went early to take advantage of Happy Hour and sat in the lounge area. It's fairly quiet as most of their business is around lunch. It's certainly the best appointed restaurant in South San Francisco that we've been to. The food and service were good and it's nice to get something a bit different - Palestinian.

Essen war sehr gut, es war viel los, daher der Service etwas schleppend. Trotzdem sehr gemütlich und gut. Würde wieder hingehen.

The restaurant’s ambiance is that of a classy restaurant. The upstairs has a bar area that has a great view of the bay. The bar itself is very upscale and elegant. The downstairs dining room is elegant and inviting. Glass windows from floor to ceiling allow great natural light. The food was very good. The poke bowl was fresh and had a nice combination of tuna and fresh veggies on a bed of rice. Try their homemade hot sauce with it. The Caesar salad was fresh with anchovies included. The salmon was added to the Caesar and was cooked very well. Not dry, as it can be. Overall, a great spot for lunch. They’re open Tuedays and Thursdays for happy hour 3-7, however, not for dinner. Probably as it is in a business district.
