Set in the impressive former 1930s Hitchin ballroom, on the first floor, Hermitage Rd restaurant & Bar boasts a seasonal, award winning and sustainable premium food offer, from the awarding winning ACI team and a bar renowned for it's bespoke cocktails, quality wine and beer range. The Gravel Pit Brasserie & Bar is situated in The Waterfront Hotel with mouthwatering views over the east lake to accompany our fantastic menu. This site was once a large marsh, fed by the River Great Ouse, but in the 1950s gravel extraction created a series of small lakes and pools which survives today. The gravel was mainly used in road and industrial construction, but today the old gravel pits are home to an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna; a magical place for all of us to enjoy.Our restaurant is open 7 days a week, from 7am - 11pm, with last food orders at 9pm.

We were welcomed and shown to our table. We were meeting friends that we had met on holiday and this was our first outing together. Although another friend had recommended The George it’s always a gamble when you have not been before. There was no need to worry as the ambience and quality of food was fantastic. We chose from the Christmas menu and were delighted. We will definitely be back.

It was my 21st birthday and i ordered the flat iron steak - it was absolutely divine, cooked perfectly. I also got a scoop of ice cream with a candle in on the house! I always love coming here, it feels so sophisticated and classy but laid back at the same time. Every time i visit the Hermitage i have an amazing time. Prices were reasonable considering the quality.

Our team had a wonderful work Christmas lunch at Lussmanns Hitchin today. It provided a lovely and relaxed atmosphere. Everybody loved their food and the staff were amazing. Can't wait to go back. There was a great selection on the menu - something for everyone. A big shout out for the sprout tops - we loved them. Thank you to the Lussmanns team.

Great lunch with a friend. Excellent food and food service though slightly disappointed you had to pre book a festive lunch. Will know better next time!
