We are a family owned business located in the centre of York by the River Ouse. Our bar and bistro has gained a reputation for a wide range of beers and spirits coupled with an excellent selection of wines and champagnes. Close to The Grand Opera House and city centre, Plonkers is an ideal place to meet with friends or colleagues for a relaxed drink.Weekends at Plonkers can have a party atmosphere where you can relax after work with friends. Upstairs seats approximately 26 but we can cater for buffets for around 40 people with some standing. The whole tea service and afternoon tea menu were so good I struggle to choose which part was best! Excellent food and drink all around. Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. Service was perfect, not overly attended and someone was quickly available when needed. The Rwandan tea and Chinese White tea were a real pleasure. May be the best scones I've ever tasted - soft texture and not dry or crumbly at all. Not cheap but well worth it. Enjoyed the piano interpretations too.

Excellent meal on Christmas Eve , the waiter was lovely , smiley , happy and nothing too much trouble - a rare find! Food was gorgeous as well as the ambience . Thankyou cut and craft for making our Christmas Eve special :)

Excellent, delicious and beautifully presented dishes. Our server Imogen was very professional and efficient and a credit to the restaurant. The Lobster Thermidor was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The only negative was the poor service in the hotel bar beforehand. We had to wait quite a while but no one came to take our order even though there were staff behind the bar. In addition, the loud crashing of glass bottles being thrown into the bin behind the bar really spoilt the ambiance, not a great start to the evening sadly

Lovely friendly pub serving delicious meals from a good menu. Very attentative staff, highly recommend the hanging chicken skewers.
