The White Horse & Griffin has developed a reputation for great food served in a relaxed and unfussy style, using locally sourced ingredients. With an emphasis on fresh seafood, we pride ourselves on great service and value for money. Built in 1681 and with a history you can almost taste, you can dine in the very room where Captain Cook and William Scoresby used to raise and fix their crews!The upstairs restaurant offers private dining and is ideal for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or just getting groups of friends together.Downstairs, our busy ‘bistro style’ restaurant serves many British classics in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. To accompany your meal we have a well-stocked wine cellar, many of which are available by the glass.

Previously based at The Willow Branch in the town centre we have moved to the beautiful surroundings of Whitby Golf Club. Food is available in the club bar and in the stunning Links Lounge with panoramic views across the golf course. Open to everyone (not just members) we offer classic afternoon teas alongside an extensive lunch menu including sandwiches, toasties, bacon rolls, homemade soups, burgers and main meals. We also have several daily specials. On Sunday's we offer a full Sunday Roast with a choice of Topside of Beef, Roast Turkey or Honey & Mustard Glazed Gammon. Friday is fish special day where we offer a choice of fish dishes alongside our regular menu until 4pm after which we just offer our Fish Friday menu until 8pm.
