Paying tribute to its lively past, Alexander Bar is named after the original owner of the hotel first built on the site in the 1880s. This was reincarnated in 1926 as The Hotel Alexander. Alexander Bar is now the elegant ground floor attraction at The Savoy Hotel Little Collins, infused with a rich history. Famous guests could once be found here during the jazz era and beyond, sipping on cocktails while listening to the easy sounds of crooners sharing the scene. The space has recently been refurbished in a contemporary Art Deco design, honouring its origins.     I’m totally surprised this place wasn’t fully booked out. The food was absolutely amazing, beautiful presentation along with reasonable prices. With some of the most AMAZING staff I have encountered. To say this place was 5/5 is an understatement.

    Great food, had the arancini balls, lamb shoulder and chocolate marquise. Service was absolutely outstanding, water regularly topped up, didn't wait long for food, and empty dishes promptly cleared. Managed to easily finish three courses within one and half hours, starting at 5pm, so that could attend 7pm show at the convention centre.

    Very nice High Tea for special occasion. Quite pricey so would only go there for special occasion. Staff were friendly and chatty, but not very attentive. Had to ask for drinks menu twice (first person obviously forgot.) Had to walk to other side of restaurant to order second drink as no staff were in the vicinity for some time.

    Miss Pearl made us feel super welcome and were accommodating with requests. The menu isn’t extensive but everything they do is standout good. Crispy eggplant, brisket bun, charred beans and chicken in master stock were all sublime. For desserts, the pineapple and kaffir lime granita with whipped coconut and the tiramisu mocha….surprising and so delicious. Can’t wait to go back and work through the rest of their offerings. Highly recommend.
