Villa di Geggiano has for more than five centuries, been renowned for hospitality and generosity as well as delicious food and sumptuous wines. Located at the heart of Tuscany, it has a history of exporting mouth-watering wines to England, having been possibly the very first to bring Chianti here in 1725. The menu features true Tuscan cuisine, with many of the ingredients being imported especially from the Villa and surrounding farms. 'The Crabtree, with its spectacular position downstream from The River Cafe,has a huge sprawling garden, a glazed colonnade and frontage on to theThames shaded by a weeping willow. The prawns in chilli hot oil and the toastspread with tomatoes and onions were good, so much so we ordered themagain when we returned for Sunday lunch. Sunday roasts with 'all thetrimming's' - we tried beef and pork - had everything a Sunday roast shouldhave. Somewhere rather spiffing to go' (Fay Machsler, Evening Standard)
