The Hartwood Restaurant enjoys a rich history. The originally the headquarters of the Harmar Coal Company. Purchased in 1988, the building was transformed into retail space, including antiques and a bookstore. Café tables were soon added amongst the book shelves, Over the years, The Hartwood Restaurant has evolved into a charming and unique place for meals, drinks, and events. The elegant dining rooms and a pub featuring hand-tooled woodwork and stained glass artwork.The Hartwood also features outdoor dining in a garden-like atmosphere, complete with a wood burning fireplace. 5 adults out celebrating my birthday. The seasonal specialty cocktails were delicious. Everything from literally soup to nuts were delicious. Clam chowder, calamari, variety of salads, entrees of lamb burgers, pork chop, fish sandwiches, ravioli and vegetable fettuccine. Then a candy cane crusted and pecan covered vanilla ice cream ball for dessert. Multiple items shared and enjoyed by all. Waitstaff, hostesses and waiter, friendly and personable. Wonderful dining space/atmosphere. Lovely evening with family.

From the Valet parking to the coat check area to the atmosphere at the bar, we felt like we were really treated as a special guests. All the staff worked in perfect unison and Joe our waiter made our special night. Thanks so much. Look forward to our next celebration.!!

The Winter Salad has a perfect balancr of flavors and textures. Highly recommend. The Ricotta Cavelltrlli also had just the balance of lightness and heaviness, richness and savory vegetables. Husband had perfectly cooked strip steak.

Delicious food and superb service. A little loud and tight for my taste, but it is one of my favorites. So glad it’s on the Northside.
