A dozen different steaks are on offer, but non-steak eaters will dine exceedingly well here.Butcher & Banker pays homage to the New Yorker Hotel’s storied history. The New Yorker opened in 1930 at the height of the Great Depression as the then largest hotel in the city. It has attracted a who’s who of entertainers and dignitaries from around the world, including Muhammad Ali, JFK, Joan Crawford and Nikola Tesla. Beneath the hotel, a bank vault and offices were occupied by the Manufacturers Trust Company until 1980. Locale molto bello stile brasserie parigina primi ‘900. Non consiglio però i tavoli all’aperto perché la strada è grande e trafficata. Personale molto gentile, servizio veloce anche se i tavoli erano tutti pieni. Cibo buono (l’hamburger però non mi ha entusiasmato)

Il ristorante è un tipico ristorante classico americano, elegante, fa cucina italiana adattata ai gusti internazionali ma di buon livello. Buona la pizza, fatta in forno a legna, buoni i cocktail. I prezzi però a mio parere sono esagerati, anche per New York. Sarebbero giustificati se dall’ intera sala si godesse la vista, ma purtroppo non è così, solo i posti fuori o alla finestra hanno un po’ di vista, comunque più sul Manhattan bridge che sul Brooklyn.
