Located in the heart of the Goodwood Estate and surrounded by the South Downs National Park, The Star & Garter in East Dean offers a delicious selection of freshly cooked, local and seasonal food in a charming dining space with red brick and oak beams. Just a mile down the hill from Goodwood Race Course we are 12 minutes drive from Chichester. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner we try to source our ingredients as locally and as seasonally as possible. Whether you are at a Goodwood Event or walking, cycling or just out for a drive and fancy a decent meal at reasonable prices, we like to think we are one of the best around. We have a great courtyard and garden space which can seat up to 100 people. Freshly ground coffee is available all day. With a mixture of local people and tourists there's always a warm welcome here.

"Amberley Castle has a long held reputation for delivering outstanding cuisine.Enjoyed on the first floor of the castle in either the magnificent Queen's Room, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling dating back to the 12th century and open fire or The Great Room, built-in 1165 by Bishop Luffa of Chichester, a fine example of Norman architecture with its high lancet windows, open fireplace, oak flooring, tapestry and suits of armour.The dress code for the dining room is smart casual. Attended as a group of 6 for Sunday lunch, 2 beef 3 lamb and 1 pork. All meat's cooked to perfection and the accompanying veg all cooked well and delicious we all agreed it was the best Sunday lunch out we have had. We shared two desserts which were tasty. Good choice of drinks and everyone happy with their choice. The restaurant was busy but the service was attentive, food piping hot and nothing too much trouble. Well done.

We ‘ve always had a sensational lunch or dinner here , the Steak & Ale pie was exceptional today. Staff always engaging & attentive , I highly recommend.
