River House Restaurant and Raw Bar is Louisville’s premiere riverfront dining destination. It is the vision of award-winning chef and restaurateur John Varanese and seats 330 in its main dining room, raw bar, and patio. Guests experience a charming “home like” atmosphere as they enter the restaurant from the front porch garden area. Enter through a 20-foot tall by 40-foot wide water wall, and enjoy intimate decor, and a floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking the back courtyard and river, River House is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. The menu features regional cuisine with a Southern flair and an emphasis on fresh seafood including Grilled Oysters on the Half Shell, BBQ Braised Beef Short Rib, and the Maker’s Mark Bourbon Barrel Smoked Salmon.     Riverhouse has amazing customer service! I was so disappointed that I had missed the lobster thermidor special last night and they told me to come tonight and they would make it. They did and it was AMAZING! The cheese appetizer and my husbands ribeye were great as well. The drinks and dessert were the perfect additions. The service was very nice and the river with snow was a beautiful site. We really enjoyed our impromptu date night!

    Great place to celebrate a special day. The twin filets were as delicious as ever. The Lexitonian salad is the best salad you will have in your life, and it’s bottomless! And don’t even get me started on the huge cookie for dessert. SUPERB!

    We had a cocktail and then decided to eat in the bar area. The bartenders were friendly and informative. Our server/bartender, was Sapporo (sp?). She was great, and there when we needed her. We ordered the tuna won tons and lobster bisque to start. Both were delicious! I had the crab stuffed halibut and my wife had the torchio pasta. Both were tasty, and large portions. We received a nice size pour for the wines we ordered. The room had a nice buzz on a cold evening. Will definitely be back.

    Fantastic food and cocktails. Not the most innovative but perfect ingredients and technique shows in the dishes!
