Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boombox, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. A typical food love story. A boy meets a girl while eating pizza. He attends culinary school and open’s a pizza restaurant named after the girl. Thus bringing us to Emily! The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. Beyond the main event, the menu extends to include salads and sandwiches, which shouldn't be ignored (think an attention-grabbing burger and a top-notch spicy fried chicken sandwich). Please note, there will be a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes for guests so we can fairly utilize our limited capacity. Our outdoor dining is enclosed with heaters that will keep you toasty! This is my go to Restaurant anytime I’m visiting the city. Weather with friends or having a solo dinner the food and the service is always excellent! For every visit I generally like to try something new, so this evening I tried the Collard Green and Black Eyed Pea Succotash Salad w/ Shirmp along with my “go to”Grilled Oysters & Espresso Martini.

The food was incredible . Umami for sure. The staff was also amazing. The woman who seated and served us was extremely helpful and attentive to everyone in the restaurant at once. She ran that room like a pro to say the least. It was New Year's day as well the place was packed on a holiday and the staff was taking care of a full restaurant and take-out orders that seemed non stop for the 90 minutes we were there. They earned and deserved the Michelin star. And I loved the sketches of the restaurant that were hung throughout the restaurant among the many old photos . Will definitely be back soon.

I brought my neice for her 8th Birthday and it was a super special experience! Really made me feel like I got to show her a tiny piece of Tokyo. Obviously it is a themed restaurant so that is what you are there for. The food is ok but also plated so fun and creative that it made every dish that came out something to look forward to. The server was above and beyond in her hospitality and her costume was amazing! Highly recommend for a special occasion.
