The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Superb afternoon tea. Huge selection of teas. Deliciously filled sandwiches. Beautiful cakes and scones. Presented in such a pretty way. Service was top quality we had Kerry who was brilliant. I really would highly recommend The Fancy Fox to anyone for an afternoon tea experience!

Lovely afternoon tea. Beautiful views, lovely food, warm scones just out of the oven, fresh cream, what’s not to like! Endless drinks too. Would definitely buy afternoon tea voucher for a present after such an enjoyable experience. Staff very friendly and service great too.

The venue is beautiful and a calm setting with great views. The food was on the whole was ample and a good selection. The sandwiches were a little dry on both sides and although there was a great selection of cakes, there were three of us and sometimes only 1 or 2 of the mini cakes on offer. Everything else had three eg three sandwiches, three scones Every all it was a great experience and value for money.
