Casual waterfront dining right on the docks of the Patchogue River, The Oar serves up fresh and delicious steaks and seafood. Chefs prepare specialties like coconut shrimp, 36 oz sizzling prime porterhouse, lobster quesadillas and fresh Bluepoint oysters and little clams which are delivered daily. Two dining rooms are decorated in traditional nautical style. The front wall in made up of French doors that open onto the water, providing dockside open air seating in warm months and picturesque views of the marina year-round. The rear dining room is elegant with raise panel mahogany, white table clothes and blue and white nautical stripe wall paper. The Snapper Inn offers seating overlooking the Connetquot river either waterside or under a gazebo. Sunday brunch features unlimited mimosas and champagne to accompany brunch items, such as eggs benedict, smoked Atlantic salmon, Alaskan crab legs or fresh fruit. Enjoy a peaceful evening at The Snapper Inn with a starter of lobster crab cake, Manhattan style baked clams, mini French dip sliders or chicken quesadillas. My friend and I meet here twice a year to celebrate our birthdays as it's equidistant from our homes west and east of there. The clam chowder with mushrooms was delicious, as was the Parisian salad - both of which I ordered. My friend ordered the vegetable soup terrine and a hamburger with fries. The only complaint was the burger was not medium rare as she had ordered it, but medium. She only ate 1/2 of it. The french fries here are out of this world delicious. We only enjoyed coffee as our dessert, which was very good. Service was excellent, just enough attention paid to us, and food arrived quickly.

Nice nautical seafood house on the Patchogue River, with views of the waterway and the Great South Bay. The four of us gave a thumbs up for a second visit.

The view, as promised, is beautiful. Food is excellent. I had the calamari appetizer, which was just the right level of spicy, and the shrimp Cobb salad, with a fabulous chocolate martini for dessert. Our waitress was affable and efficient.
